The following are the system
requirements for accessing our Moodle courses for the
first time.
You are encouraged to PRINT this
page and check off the requirements as you confirm that you meet them.
If you need help determining
whether your computer meets these requirements, please ask your System
Administrator or Technical Support Staff for assistance.
1.
Camtasia
Player is a free multimedia player required for viewing high-quality
narrated desktop video clips. You will need 300KB of free disk space and the
ability to download, unzip and install programs on your Windows PC. If you do
not have software download/installation privileges and/or the ability to unzip
a file on your local PC, ask your System Administrator to assist you. (If you
do not have access to a zip utility, there are many free zip utilities
available, such as QuickZip.)
2.
Windows Media Player is a free media player that you
probably already have on your computer -- please check to ensure that you have
the latest version (not beta) available. If you do not, please visit the Windows Media Player site to download the version appropriate
for your operating system. (And yes, there is a version available for the Mac
operating system.)A note about file viewers and plug-ins
Occasionally you may
encounter course content in the form of specific file types that require
specific applications in order to open and/or view. If you do not have the
corresponding applications on your computer and/or if your browser lacks the
capability to properly display these files, you should be able to view the
files by downloading free viewers or plug-ins for specific file types. These
links are provided here for your convenience. Please refer back to this page
when/if necessary while taking any of our Moodle
courses.
For Microsoft Office files
(such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel),
visit the Microsoft Office Online File Convertors and
Viewers page at:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/HA010449811033.aspx
For Adobe PDF files,
download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader at:
http://get.adobe.com/reader/
or http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/
Unless otherwise indicated,
most course videos will be viewable via Windows Media Player, which can be
downloaded for both Macs and PCs at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.mspx
For help with other file
types, please contact your course instructor.
If you need help
determining whether your computer meets any of the technical requirements
listed above, we suggest that you first contact your local System Administrator
or Technical Support Staff for assistance.
If you are having
difficulty downloading anything that is required for Moodle,
your System Administrator may need to login to your workstation and download
these items for you.
If you have confirmed that
your computer meets the requirements but you still need assistance, please
visit the frequently asked
questions page first to see whether your problem/question is addressed
there. If it is not, please contact Jonathan Zalewski, EMS Coordinator, 330-379-9582
or zalewskj@summa-health.org
for further assistance.
Forgotten logon or
password
Pop-up blocking software
Additional help
I have forgotten my Moodle
site logon and/or password. What do I do?
If you forget your
username and/or password, click on “Lost password” in the login box on your Moodle login page. You will need to provide the email
address you used during registration. A message will be sent to your email
address with your username and with a link that you may use to select a new
password. (Old passwords cannot be recovered. You must choose a new
password.) I don't know whether I have pop-up blocking software
and/or I don't know how to disable it.
If you do not know
whether you have pop-up blocking software, you might want to ask your system
administrator for assistance. There are many different software
packages/options that provide pop-up blocking, so we cannot offer
instructions on disabling all of them. However, most pop-up blocking software
will display an icon in your browser's menu bar or in your system tray and
you can usually disable it by clicking (or right-clicking) on the icon and
choosing the appropriate options which will either temporarily disable it
until you reactivate it OR you can sometimes choose options which will
configure it to always allow pop-ups which originate from your Moodle site URL. Additional Help
First, be sure you have
read through the "Getting Started" document that is linked from the
left side of your Moodle login page. The
"Getting Started" document contains vital information related to
the navigation and use of the site. In addition, if you are
trying to use a feature within Moodle and there is
a question mark icon, be sure to click on it and read the associated
information. If you have a question related to your course, your course instructor is the best person to contact. If you are having
technical difficulties with the Moodle site itself
and/or you have tried all other means of assistance, please contact Jonathan
Zalewski, EMS Coordinator, 330-379-9582 or zalewskj@summa-health.org
for further assistance. |
